NSW: Six houses evacuated during grass fire south of Wollongong
SYDNEY, Aug 3 AAP - Six houses were evacuated after a grass fire swept through the
suburb of Warrawong south of Wollongong.
The fire destroyed five hectares of grassland and threatened property south west of
Port Kembla Hospital about 9.15pm (AEST) last night, a NSW Fire Brigades spokesman said.
"There were six properties under threat but the fire was all contained between Vermont
Rd and Little Place and the property was protected," the spokesman said.
The fire was extinguished by 10.50pm (AEST) and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
